Limerick

There was a man who had no name
And traveled in search of no fame.
The came across a town
That forced him to be a clown.
The man ran away with much shame.

Ballad

There was a large town by the open sea,
Where friendship was thought to be a rope that binded.
A man once described growing up there as
A winding road with no visible end in sight.
The wind is always howling, and the trees always smell sweet.
The man wanted to travel.

The man wanted to travel to another land,
Somewhere so he could feel the roughness of the land
And taste the sweet, sour, and bitter foods.
He wanted to experience the sights, smells, and sounds.
He said the world was the forest, and his town was nothing but a tree.
The man wanted to travel.

Stream of Consciousness

He thinks
Of all the work
He must do
Before his bedtime.

The chores are done.
The work is done.
Now he has free time
And can go to bed early.

Tomorrow will be
Another exciting day;
No work to be done,
So he can go out for a run.

Free Verse 2

Reading through
A story is like
Starting a journey
Reading is a journey.

Once it starts,
There is no end.
Bam!  The urge to read continues.
Reading is a journey.

The journey continues
With its twists
And turns.
Reading is a journey.

Reading is an adventure
That starts and stops
Suddenly and swiftly.
Reading is a journey.

There are millions of ways
To interpret a story,
And none of them are wrong.
Reading is a journey.

Reading can
Be funny, informative,
Persuasive, and more.
Reading is a journey.

Reading is an experience
That will never be forgotten.
It is like riding a bicycle.
Reading is a journey.

Once the story ends,
Another begins,
And the whole process begins anew.
Reading is a journey.

Ode

The pencil
Is like a paintbrush
Suitable for many purposes
Including drawing and writing.

The pencil
Is like an extension
Of my arm,
Drawing and writing.

The pencil,
Can record history,
Write stories,
And draw pictures.

The pencil
Is the tool to use.
After all, it is
The mightiest tool.

Free Verse 1

The snow settles soundly
On a sidewalk.
Whoosh!  The wind comes and carries a mountain of snow
Somewhere in the distance.
This westward wind continues on,
Eventually disappearing deep into the distance.

2 in 1

I do not believe schools should combine both special education and general education students in the same classroom because the two types of students have different needs, and teachers would need to accommodate for both. The special education students also learn slower than the general education students, so the general education students would have to slow down for the other students. The special education students require more of the teachers' attention, which gives less time for the teachers to spend with the general education students who want to move on. It would be better if the two remained separated in order to help both groups learn most effectively and efficiently.
